We are a working farm dedicated to practices that are healthier and sustainable for both ourselves and the animals. Heavin's Farm is a place for rescues and adoptees to come and live a better life. On our farm, all animals are shown love, compassion and respect. They are never used as a meat source and only for the products they give us in return. Such products include fresh eggs, milk, fertilizer and compost. Like any good sustainable farm, we use the animals poop as a means of fertilizer for our trees and plants. All other organic material that's been left to waste, then goes into our compost bins. We in return use the compost in our garden, which then feeds the animals. That's not all! We have also found a creative way to use the water from our duck pond in what we have dubbed, "Quackaponics" . No waste here on this farm and there's definitely never an unused opportunity for learning and teaching!
At Heavin's Farm, we also teach children and their families how to use their animals as a source of income in ways other than meat production. We welcome all families to this group and are dedicated specifically to the special needs community and their families. Heavin's Farm 4-H is an upcoming program that will also offer classes in cheese sensory analysis, cheese making, milking, kidding, egg production, poultry, goat care/safety practices, show, and farm business management. At our farm and through 4-H, kids and teens will complete hands-on projects in areas like health, science, agriculture, civic engagement, arts, and entrepreneurship opportunities. Projects will be completed in a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors, and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. What can I say, it's never a dull moment around here and we like to stay busy between seasons.
As previously stated, Heavin's Farm stays busy and we have a great success rate. However, we can't continue to rescue, adopt and teach, if we don't receive continuous funds. Therefore, Heavin's Farm has decided to sell merchandise to help subsidize the income during our off seasons. We give our word and guarantee that all sales from sold merchandise, eggs and kids (goat) go directly back into the farm, rescue, vet bills and our up coming 4-H program. Our next one year goal has been set and it's to move our LLC over to a 501c3 non profit. We hope the help from our patrons and costumers like yourselves, will allow us to meet this goal!
Thank you for reading our blog and we hope you love our products as much as we do!
